Livin' on the south side of Miami
there's a hurricane storm
tree limbs are flyin'
houses are torn
Someone had a gate that's now in the pool
people are congested down at the school
you see the weather reports on the T.V. time
it gives you shivers, up and down your spine

Livin' on the south side of Miami
there's a hurricane storm
some things were in the freezer
now they're airborne
hurricanes make you find your will
while giving your heart a chill
you need love to center yourself
at times like this, there ain't nothing else

Oh those lightning strikes are blinding
and the wind is howling at your door
looking out your window there's a hurricane
coming at you full bore

Livin' on the south side of Miami
there's a hurricane storm
some kind of hellacious action
'bout as far as you can get from the norm
hang on by the seat of your pants
hang on by your fingernails
if you're lucky you can tell your grandkids
and they'll accuse you of tellin' tall tales
